What are Fillers?
Dermal filler injections are a safe, popular and affordable non-surgical choice for patients looking to rejuvenate their face by replacing lost volume and resculpting the ageing face.

What are they made of?
​
Dermal fillers primarily consist of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic Acid occurs naturally in the human body and absorbs moisture to keep skin hydrated for a youthful appearance. Hyaluronic Acid helps provide a volumised appearance of the skin in youth, but unfortunately as we age, the levels of hyaluronic acid reduce, and combined with other factors can lead to loss of volume of the face, causing lines, sagginess and wrinkles forming. We can use dermal filler injections to replace this lost hyaluronic acid, to reverse the effects of ageing, and also use it to augment the face/body.

Where can I have treatment?
​
There are many key areas of the face which can be treated, depending on a patient's needs, to reverse the effects of ageing. Commonly treated areas are:

Cheeks
After the age of 30, we may start noticing a loss of volume in our cheek area. This has many knock-on effects, including under eye bags, nose-to-mouth lines, the accentuation of jowls, and a generally increasing sagginess to the face. This cheekbone area can be augmented to re-volumise the midface and start reversing those knock on effects.

Chin
The chin is very importance in framing/shaping the face - often we say that it is most desirable for ladies to have a heart shaped face finishing at the chin. Filler can be used to augment the chin, increase it in a vertical or horizontal dimension, as well as fill chin clefts, to help frame the face.

Lips
Lips are often considered to be a sign of beauty - there are many different shapes and types. Dr Anish uses a gentle filler to augment the lip, by providing contouring and definition, as well as adding additional voluming/plumping if required.

Tear Troughs
The tear trough area sits below the eye, and describes the eye-bag appearance that can develop due to many factors, one being loss of volume. Dr Anish likes to treat the cause of this by replacing lost volume in the cheeks. However, he also uses a soft product directly in this tear trough region to improve the contour and eliminate the eye-bags.

Other lines and wrinkles
Other areas which are commonly treated are the naso-labial (nose-to-mouth) lines, the marionette (mouth to chin) lines, and fine lines around the mouth.

Will it hurt?
​
Prior to your treatment, a numbing cream will be applied to the area being injected. In addition, the filler also contains a local anaesthetic to further reduce any sensitivity. The procedure is relatively painless.

When do I see results and how long does it last?
​
The effect of dermal filler is instantaneous. It is possible, especially around the lips, that you can experience a normal swelling which resolves after 2-3 days. Dermal Filler treatment lasts a long time, dependent on injection site. We can see results up to 18-24 months! As Hyaluronic Acid is naturally occurring in the body, the body breaks it down naturally over time, and it can be replenished by maintenance treatment to keep a youthful appearance.
