Bikini Waxing

The facts - everything you want to know!

Having your first bikini wax is like a rite of passage. For many it is a daunting experience, filled with fear of the unknown and a thousand unanswered questions...
Well have no fear, because our short guide will help you to understand and appreciate the art of great bikini waxing, and to help overcome any fears you may have - you can become a bikini waxing veteran!

The benefits - why you'll love it!

Smooth Skin
After a professional wax, the skin will be silky smooth. You just can't beat that feeling!
Healthy Skin
The wax also helps to further exfoliate the surrounding superficial dead skin layers, promoting better skin!
Long Lasting
As the wax doesn't simply trim hairs, but removes them from the root, they take longer to grow back!
Thinner Hairs
As time goes on, areas which have been waxed tend to produce thinner and fewer hairs!
Less Irritation
When done by our professional team, waxing causes a lot less irritation than other methods of hair removal.

Waxing vs. the other options

Bikini waxing vs. Shaving/Epilation
Shaving is a quick and easy way to remove hair, and does so from just below the surface of the skin. Epilation is done by machine, and is usually a lot slower and more painful, but is similar in mechanism to shaving/tweezing.
This usually results in itchiness, a quickly forming stubble, and needs to be repeated very frequently.
Waxing will remove the entire hair from the root, resulting in a silky smooth finish, with no stubble, and the hair takes a lot longer to regrow before you need to remove it again.

Bikini waxing vs. Hair Removal Creams
Hair removal creams are chemical based and act by removing the hair from just below the surface of the skin. There are risks of irritation and sensitivity to the skin with these creams over time. Waxing, again, will remove the entire hair from the root, resulting in a silky smooth finish, with no stubble, and the hair takes a lot longer to regrow before you need to remove it again.

Bikini waxing vs. Laser Hair Removal
Laser sounds great, doesn't it? A course of treatments which lead to permanent hair removal forever! Well, it's great if it works for you. Laser can be very hit and miss, and where some people have great results, there are many who are disappointed with poor results. And, the cost for Laser treatments is a lot higher. Bikini waxing provides predictable, guaranteed, smooth and silky results, which is still cost-effective over time.

TOP TIP
Once you have your bikini area waxed, we would recommend keeping up with regular waxing treatments all-year-round. This can lead to you having better long term and longer lasting results, with hairs becoming finer and fewer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the different types of Bikini Wax?
Great question. It all depends on what you want! At Aesthetique Clinics, we've made it super easy to choose the right style for you.
The "Bikini" - so you can wear a bikini bottom
The "High Bikini" - so you can wear a thinner bikini bottom
The "Brazilian" - a designer finish
The "Hollywood" - completely hairless

How long until I should wax again?
As we mentioned earlier, we recommended waxing consistently all-year round to maintain excellent smooth and exfoliated skin, and to promote the hairs to become fewer and thinner.
Everyone's rate of regrowth is different, but on average we would say around 4 weeks for a growth of 1/4 inch, which is perfect to wax again. This is something we can discuss with you, and help you to decide.

What if I'm pregnant or on my period?
Not a problem! There is absolutely no contraindication to having your waxing done while your pregnant or on your period. The only thing we would ask, however, is that you do wear a tampon if you are on your period.

Strip Wax or Hot Wax?
There are a few different types of wax that we can use for hair removal. Strip wax involves us placing thin layers of warm wax along the skin, and then immediately using wax sheets to remove this. It is quick and easy, and great for areas such as the legs or arms.
Hot wax is slightly different, and involves the placement of a layer of wax over the area, and allowing it to cool and set, before removing the wax in one movement.
Both have their advantages - however, for bikini (and other sensitive areas, such as underarms), we 100% recommend Hot Wax.
Hot Wax is kinder to the delicate skin, helps to hydrate the skin, is quicker in these hard-to-access areas, and is less painful.
